About Luso
CLOSED JAN 2011.
Luso is a new 'modern Portuguese' restaurant on Manchester's Bridge Street that's already picked up a 'best fine dining restaurant' award from Metro. The extensive and inspired menu encompasses traditional Portuguese dishes as well as influences from the Portuguese colonial diaspora including Macau, Goa, Brazil, Africa and Japan.
Standouts include the Caldo Verde soup, Seafood Cataplana, Salt Cod Gomes Do Sa and Chicken Piri Piri. The large wine list at Luso is exclusively Portuguese (bar the champagne) with a choice of wines by the glass and half bottles. You can also sample Portuguese beer, mineral water and fruit nectar, a kind of thick fruit juice. Luso is open six days a week for lunch and dinner with a Petiscos (small plates/tapas) menu available at lunchtimes.
