Let me give you a little run down of who we are, where we are, where we are going and where we are right now.
First off, we are a family run business, but we didn't start that way. Back in 2006 myself, Verdain, and Ragga decided that Liverpool needed a good Caribbean food outlet. At the time there were a couple, but having tried them and not been long back from Jamaica myself I knew that we could do better. All over Jamaica recipes very but all have basic foundations. Ragga hails from Port Antonio which is the capital parish of Portland and is situated in the North-East of the island. It is only about 60 miles from Kingston and is the islands 3rd largest port, it is also famous for its fish and seafood dishes.
We acquired a small shop on smithdown road from one of our mutual friends and started up on a shoe string budget, but from day one we thrived and went from strength to strength. Our aim was and still is to create authentic Caribbean cuisine made from quality fresh ingredients, but at reasonable prices. As our customer base grew we knew we needed more staff and they came in the form of my mother, brothers and sister. After a couple of years though Ragga had to go back home to Jamaica, but before he left he made sure we had all the recipes handed down to him from his family back home so that we could continue producing our top quality food.
At the time of writing we have expanded and opened another outlet on the very popular Lark Lane, adding a second outlet to our Smithdown road branch, but we don't want to stop there. We want to spread the love, so to speak. Our customers come from far and wide and we want to now bring our food to them and their friends and families.
