Frankie stamps her burger passport....
Have you ever been dealt a card that was so spectacular, you had to pinch yourself, just to make sure you weren’t dreaming?
Well these were my thoughts exactly, when I first discovered Hard Rock Cafe’s World Burger Tour was coming to town.
What the burg is World Burger Tour I hear you scream excitedly? Well I’m glad you asked.
How would you like to send your taste buds on a round-the-world trip, without having to leave the comfortable seats and ambiance of Hard Rock Cafe Manchester? I thought as much. Well, the Local Legendaries have answered your prayers, by hopping on a plane first class and arriving straight to your plate.
The Local Legendary in my opinion is the true highlight of any Hard Rock experience. Being able to sample a unique creation which captures the true flavours of a city, masterfully designed by the Hard Rock chef’s is a true flavoursome joy of which makes any trip across the pond a more delicious one.
So leave your passport at home, grab your elasto-waist pants and come on a journey where your appetite for a good burg is the only thing to declare.
First stop on your journey is at Cologne, Germany for the Schnitzel Burger. A German classic, layers of crisp breaded schnitzel are topped with salty bacon, sauerkraut, Dijon mustard and the usual salad suspects hugged together by a pretzel bun.
A satisfying crunch into the schnitzel reveals tender pork, the soft warming flavours delectably welcoming the salty tastes of its bacon brother. The sauerkraut for me turns this burger into a real game-changer adding succulent bites with a satisfying vinegar flavour that leaves you chomping for more. The soft pretzel bun had a light airy texture with just a hint of sweetness, making it the perfect buddy for the savoury stack.
The next port of call is Athens where their feta-ish for classic Greek flavours hits you harder than Hercules. A classic patty is layered with peppery rocket, cooled with a light Tzatziki sauce and then the legendary take on feta cheese mixed with traditional flavours from black olives, peppers, onions and capers.
Possibly the cool-est of all burgers on offer, this combination would be perfectly suited for warm days where you crave the meat without the heat. Like a meze on a bun, this Legend is totally Zeus-worthy.
Las Vegas is, in true form the ultimate party animal. Atomic fried onions, rocket, tomato and Pepperjack cheese are stacked on top of thick, premium grade beef, smothered in sriracha mayonnaise and encased in a toasted brioche bun, crowned with a deep-fried jalapeno pepper.
My personal favourite of the lot, this burger packs the heat but in a delightfully delicious fashion. It lightly warms the taste buds with hot flavours of jalapeno and onion, the meaty flavours and natural juiciness of the beef marrying with the melted goo of cheese. Possibly the most succulent chomps of the lot, this preview will have you packing for Nevada no sooner than you take your second bite.
The final stop on this tasty-train halts at Honolulu Hawaii where I was pleasantly surprised at the lip-smacking sensation of this flavour combination; piled up on a Hard Rock patty comes a wedge of spam, Monterey Jack cheese, rocket, grilled pineapple ring, pico de gallo and guac.
Tender savoury bites from the patty and spam are balanced with the sweetness of the grilled pineapple and syrupy soy glaze which is lusciously prominent with every mouthful. Definitely the most exotic option, the flavours transport you directly to sunnier climates where grass-skirts are optional but sweet-indulgence is a promise.
This Legendary burger selection is teamed with an array of refreshing cocktails from all points on the map. Treat your palette to total sunbed sippers, with options for Gin-lovers, Rum-shakers and more, every tipple invigorates and compliments your burg of choice. Throw in a basket of the eye-rollingly scrumptious fries that come with each order, and you my friend are in for the flavour party of a lifetime.
The World Burger Tour is a limited-time menu available from the beginning of May to the 30th of June 2016, giving you plenty of time to eat your way around the globe biting the best burgers the world has to offer.
So what are you still doing here? No foreign currency required, hop on over to Hard Rock Cafe Manchester and book your one-way ticket to deliciousness and relish in divine burger bliss.
