About The Star Inn
The Star has won many awards and accolades for Andrew Pern's 'modern Yorkshire' style of cooking. There is great emphasis on local, seasonal ingredients: the garnish may come from The Star's own kitchen garden, eggs, honey and poultry from suppliers within the village, and game from the local shoots. Fish and shellfish are generally from the North Sea, whilst favourite cheeses come from Wensleydale, Shepherd's Purse based in nearby Thirsk
and Lowna Dairies.
Menus are constantly fine-tuned to take advantage of the best ingredients on offer. Booking is recommended in either our old or new dining rooms, however the same menu is available in the Bar (and in good weather on the Terrace or in the Kitchen Garden), which work on a 'first come, first served' basis.
