A beautifully historic 17th century coaching inn with inherent charm. It has a traditional bar area and a cosy lounge both with real fires and serving real beers including, Abbot Ale and Jennings Cumberland together with a range of guest beers. Bench seating at the front and in the garden to the rear. The smart and modern dining room seats approximately 50 and is available for functions, private parties and conferences and ordinary dining in the evenings. The lunchtime menu holds a tempting range of home cooked standards such as Steak and Ale pie, cottage pie, lasagne and a range of fish and vegetarian options. There is also a snack menu available. In the evenings the menu is more a la carte including the chefs own selection such as Hartington chicken, Lamb shank, all sauces are created by the chef Richard Foulkes. A selection of sticky puddings are available both lunchtime and evening as is the interesting cheeseboard featuring the local Hartington Stilton.
