"The Old Maid of Sussex on Gales Road has had a radical makeover and emerged as the trendy LB1 restaurant and bar. This venue cleverly embraces the morning coffee and lunchtime crowd with its Café Society menu including a wide range of coffees from around the globe. Its evening menu has a strong contemporary English flavour including dishes such as Oak-smoked Bacon on Bubble and Squeak with Hollandaise and a Poached egg £6.25/£11.75 and Home Cooked Honey Glazed Ham, egg and chips at £7.25. Veggie pickings are slim but refreshingly different such as their Ricotta and Basil stuffed Ravioli in a Spicy Pumpkin sauce at £8.75. Sunday roasts served with local vegetables are a very reasonable £7.95 and non-meat eaters can tuck into Field Mushroom Risotto or Traditional Fish Pie."
